Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said on Thursday, Oct 10, that he and other members of the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) who are part of a local political alliance will support Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer for representative of the 4th District of Negros Occidental.
Lea Delfinado, former assistant secretary of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), was issued a Certificate of Nomination and Acceptance by NPC to run for representative of the 4th District.
Lacson, an NPC member, and Ferrer of the National Unity Party both belong to the Love Negros-United Negros Alliance coalition.
The governor said there will be a split among NPC members in the 4th District.
NPC members who are part of the Love Negros-UNegA coalition are expected to support Ferrer for congressman.
The NPC members in the 4th District who are not part of the alliance will most likely support the challenger of Ferrer, he said.
The national office of the NPC has known about the local alliance since 2019 and supports its stand, he said.*
