NegOcc honors local governance champions, distributes ₱8.9M in incentives

The Negros Occidental provincial government, in partnership with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), officially recognized outstanding local government units and barangays during the “Recognition of Local Governance Champions” ceremony at the Negros Residences  in Bacolod City Wednesday morning,  June 24.

The event saw the distribution of  ₱8,900,000 in  cash incentives to  various towns, cities, and barangays that demonstrated exemplary performance in local administration, justice execution, and legislative efficiency.

Pointing to grassroots governance as the foundation of national transformation,  Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson commended the province’s top-performing local officials

“The Seal of Good Local Governance is not merely an award or an honor; it is a symbol of a steadfast dedication to providing honest public service through transparency and accountability,” Lacson said.

“This recognition is a testament to the hard work of our local leaders at the grassroots level,” he said.

 Local Legislative Awardees that received P100,000 each the cities of  San Carlos, Himamaylan, Kabankalan, Victorias and Talisay, and  towns of Calatrava, Murcia, La Castellana and  Candoni.

Lupon Tagapamayapa incentive awards of P100,000 each for outstanding barangay justice systems and  effective community mediation were given to  Brgy. Poblacion, Bago City;  Brgy. Fabrica, Sagay City; Brgy. Buenavista, Calatrava; Brgy. San Miguel,  Murcia; Brgy. Poblacion 2, Isabela; Brgy. San Jose, EB Magalona; Brgy. Poblacion 1, Pontevedra;  Brgy. Banga, Candoni; and Brgy Tibsoc, San Enrique.

A total of 71 barangays across the province  also achieved national recognition. Each awardee barangay received a ₱100,000 to fund local development programs.

The  Seal of Good Local Governance for Barangays (SGLGB) awardees are Brgy. Lo-ok, Calatrava; Brgys. Bagonbon, Buluangan, Ermita, Guadalupe, and Nataban; Brgy. III, Brgy. V, Brgy. VI, and Brgy. Rizal in San Carlos City; Brgys. Bug-ang, Magticol, and San Jose in  Toboso;

Brgys. Zone 6, Burgos, Cabahug, Luna, Tiglawigan, and Tinampaan in Cadiz City; Brgys. Chambery and Purisima, in Manapla; Brgys. Baviera, Bulanon, Fabrica, Paraiso, Poblacion II, and Puey in Sagay City; Brgys. Alegria, Lopez Jaena, Minoyan, Pandanon Silos, San Miguel, and Sta. Cruz in Murcia;

Brgy. Guimbalaon, Silay City; Brgy. Zone 12-A, Talisay City; Brgy. II and Brgy. VI-A of Victorias City; Brgys. Abuanan, Atipuluan, Binubuhan, Busay, Calumangan, Caridad, Dulao, Lag-asan, Mailum, Napoles, Poblacion, Tabunan, and Taloc in Bago City; Brgy. San Miguel of La Carlota City; Brgys. Poblacion 1 and Burgos of Pontevedra;

Brgys. Zone 4 and Ubay  of Pulupandan; Brgys. Carabalan and Talaban of Himamaylan City; Brgys. III, Bato, Camalobalo, Himaya, Pilar, Tuguis, and Baga-as of Hinigaran; Brgys. Poblacion 2 and Poblacion 4 of Isabela; Brgys. Manghanoy, Mansalanao, and Talaptap of La Castellana; Brgy. Camindangan, in Cauayan; and Brgy. Dancalan in Ilog.*
