NegOcc hits 100% PhilHealth YAKAP accreditation in health facilities

Negros Occidental has achieved 100 percent accreditation of all government health facilities across the province for the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) Yaman ng Kalusugan Program (YAKAP).

YAKAP is an enhanced primary care benefit package that focuses on preventive and promotive healthcare.

PhilHealth-Bacolod information officer Christine Mirano said on Tuesday, Dec. 23, that this means all rural health units, city health offices and district hospitals owned by the province are already accredited to provide services under the YAKAP program.

“This year, the accreditation of the four remaining municipalities has also been approved, making it 100 percent for Negros Occidental,” she said.

In a statement, the Provincial Health Office lauded the efforts and hard work of the province’s 31 local government units and provincial government-owned hospitals in attaining the milestone.

“This ensures that quality healthcare is more accessible, streamlined, and affordable for every Negrense,” it said.

As provided under PhilHealth Corporate Memo No. 2025-0039, YAKAP integrates primary care services with outpatient laboratory diagnostics and pharmaceutical benefits and refines the model by expanding access points, improving provider incentives, and strengthening care coordination.

The PhilHealth YAKAP offers free primary care services such as routine checkups, laboratory tests, cancer screening and outpatient medications under the PhilHealth GAMOT package.

Services include free 13 laboratory tests, six cancer-screening tests and 75 types of medicines at select clinics and pharmacies, with a limit of PHP20,000 per year.*PNA
