NegOcc dengue cases starting to drop: guv

Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said the dengue cases in Negros Occidental in the last two weeks have started to drop.

“The alert threshold and epidemic threshold is now lower compared to 2024,” he said.

Lacson said he hopes this is the start to a downward trend.

“But still we are calling on the community to follow the 4 o’clock habit of cleaning their surroundings,” he said to remove breeding places of dengue carrying mosquitoes.

He also reminded those hit with fever to go for checkups to determine if it is dengue or not, Lacson said.

The dengue cases in Negros Occidental from Jan. 1 to April 19 were 1,692 with seven deaths, the Provincial Health Office (PHO) reported.

That is an increase by 341.78 percent or 1,309 cases more than 383 cases in the same period last year, it added.*
