A motorcycle rider was killed in a hit and run incident at the Bacolod–Silay Airport Access Road in Brgy. Efigenio Lizares, Talisay City, Negros Occidental, on Sunday afternoon, January 25.
Police identified the fatality as alias “Rex”, 35, of Brgy. Cabatangan, Talisay City, who was driving a Kawasaki Fury motorcycle at the time of the incident.
Initial investigation by the Talisay City Police Station showed that Rex and an Isuzu Giga truck driven by alias “Jet,” 52, of Quezon City, were traveling in the same direction from Bacolod City toward Silay City when the truck allegedly lost control and hit the rear of the motorcycle.
The impact caused the motorcycle to hit the gutter and fall, after which the truck reportedly ran over the rider and the bike.
Responding personnel from the Talisay City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office observed that the motorcycle rider showed no signs of life and was brought to the Talisay City Health Office, where he was officially declared dead.
The truck driver was placed under the custody of the Talisay police.*
