Some 31,900 residents of Dumaguete City have been identified to receive 10 kilos of government rice each under the Bawat Bayan Makikinabang (BBMP) program funded through the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF), an official said.
Lilibeth Filipinas, chief of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), said that 1,776 beneficiaries will receive their rice assistance during the “Handog ng Pangulo: Serbisyong Sapat Para sa Lahat” service caravan on Monday, Sept. 14.
“The beneficiaries during the Handog ng Pangulo are from Barangays 1 to 7. The rest of the beneficiaries from the city’s 30 barangays will receive their free rice during subsequent distribution activities,” Filipinas said.
Meanwhile, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will provide PHP2,000 in financial assistance to 1,500 beneficiaries under its Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food, and Transport (UPLIFT) Assistance Program.
More than 4,000 residents of Negros Oriental are expected to benefit from the service caravan, which will be held at the Dumaguete City Hall forecourt and will involve at least 18 national government agencies providing various services.
The nationwide simultaneous service caravan is being held as part of the celebration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s birthday and supports the administration’s thrust to bring government programs and services closer and make them more accessible to the public.
Other activities include a job fair, Kadiwa ng Pangulo, payout for the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program, distribution of assistance to overseas Filipino workers through the Department of Migrant Workers, and the awarding of certificates of lot allocation by the National Housing Authority.
Participating agencies include the Department of Labor and Employment, Department of Agriculture, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Agrarian Reform, Department of Education, Department of Justice, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Health, and the Department of Information and Communications Technology.
Also joining the caravan are the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, National Irrigation Administration, Philippine Statistics Authority, Philippine National Police, National Bureau of Investigation, Philippine Crop Insurance Corp. and Land Transportation Office.*PNA
