More than 100 elementary pupils from flood-hit Barangays 1 and 3 in Moises Padilla have received new school supplies, allowing them to return to classes after losing their belongings during Typhoon “Tino”.
The two-day distribution was led by Mayor Ella Garcia Yulo and Vice Mayor Pimpoy Yulo at the Mayor’s Office starting Wednesday, January 7, a press release said Sunday.
A total of 134 children benefited from the activity—91 pupils from Barangay 1 and 43 from Barangay 3—each receiving brand-new school uniforms, shoes, polo shirts, and school bags to replace items damaged or lost when flooding struck the municipality on November 4.
Barangay captains of Barangay 1 and of Barangay 3 joined the distribution, along with their respective barangay officials. Barangay leaders provided the list of beneficiaries to ensure the assistance reached families most in need.
The activity forms part of the local government’s post-typhoon recovery efforts, aimed at helping children resume their studies with dignity and adequate support, the press release said.
The vice mayor also conducted a site inspection for a proposed hanging footbridge that will connect Barangays Montilla and Macagahay.
The planned footbridge is seen as a vital project to ensure safer, easier, and faster travel for residents—especially during the rainy season and in emergency situations—highlighting the continued cooperation between the local government unit and barangays in advancing community welfare, the press release said.*
