With the continued rise of pickleball as a sport and social activity, property giant Megaworld is introducing four new tournament-standard pickleball courts within its 53-hectare Northill Gateway township along the Bacolod-Silay Airport Access Road.
The groundbreaking for the Northill Courtyard was held Friday afternoon, April 17.
The new sports and recreational hub is targeted to open in July this year and will be the first pickleball facility along the Bacolod-Silay Airport Road, Harold Geronimo, First Vice President of Megaworld Corporation, said.
It will be operated by ADA Sports, a group of private individuals united by a shared passion for pickleball, a fast-growing paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis.
Spanning close to 1,200 square meters, the pickleball courts will be complemented by a full suite of amenities, including a spacious lounge area and Northill Café by Quino’s, a concept by homegrown Bacolod brand Quino’s, founded by husband-and-wife team John and Ann Ledesma.
Players will also enjoy direct access to Northill Parade, which hosts a dynamic mix of retail and dining establishments, such as McDonald’s, Denny’s, and JT’s Manukan, among others.
Northill Courtyard will be available for ‘open play’ and offer membership programs for pickleball players and enthusiasts.
Designed as a community centric destination, it aims to welcome players of all ages and skill levels-from beginners and intermediates to advanced and professional players-offering an inclusive space that encourages both recreation and social connection.
The complex will feature a large-scale open-air layout with a clean, minimalist aesthetic, complemented by a relaxed, resort-inspired ambiance and scenic views of the surrounding mountains.
To enhance comfort and safety, the factity will include shaded seating areas, benches, drinking fountains, and safety fencing around the courts.
Ample parking spaces and pedestrian-friendly pathways will also ensure convenient access throughout the site.
“Pickleball’s appeal lies in its simplicity, accessibility, and strong sense of community. We are excited to help grow this movement in Bacolod by creating a dedicated space where people can stay active, connect, and enjoy the game,” said Tin Yusingco-Torre, general manager for Megaworld Lifestyle Malls, Northill Gateway.
“This latest addition further enhances Northill
Gateway’s identity as a premier residential and lifestyle enclave, while reinforcing Megaworld’s commitment to developing modern, future-ready townships that elevate everyday living and contribute to Bacolod’s continued growth,” Yusingco-Torre added.
Known for being easy to learn and highly accessible, pickleball has seen a steady surge in popularity across the Philippines in recent years, Geronimo said.
With its simple rules, smaller court size, and social nature, the sport has become a favorite among players of all generations, further fueling the growth of vibrant and inclusive pickleball communities nationwide.*
