Mayor wants closed down water refilling stations named

Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said on Friday, September 30, that he wants the water refilling stations in Bacolod that have been closed for failure to avail of the necessary permits named.

Sixty one water refilling stations in Bacolod City have been temporarily closed for lack of permits, Sanitation Inspector VI Jasmin Santiago of the Bacolod City Health Office said Tuesday.

The 61 have been asked to stop selling water for public consumption until they comply with all sanitary requirements, she said.

Benitez said he has asked the Public Information Office why the names of the 61 stations have not been made public, and was informed that they would have to consult with the City Legal Office first.

The mayor has directed the CHO to step up the inspection of water refiling stations in Bacolod.

Meanwhile, the mayor said those leasing spaces at the Manokan Country who have not paid their rent delinquencies on the deadline Friday will be closed.

However, if they made a big payment on their delinquencies their being allowed to stay may be considered even if they have not fully paid, he said.*
