‘Mawar’ won’t stop opening of Inasal Festival on Friday

Super Typhoon Mawar is not stopping the opening of the three-day Bacolod Chicken Inasal Festival on Friday afternoon, May 26.

Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said the festival, which will open at 5 p.m. at the North Capitol Road in Bacolod, will go on as scheduled.

Benitez said based on the weather forecast the rain will only be about 3 millimeters on Friday. It has also been forecasted that there will be intermittent rain from 5 p.m. Friday until Saturday morning, he added.

The security forces were dispatched during a ceremony held at the Bacolod City Police Office gymnasium.

The festival opening will be followed by a beer tasting and pairing of chef’s inasal versions at the North Capitol Road and Capitol Lagoon Park at 6 p.m. Friday.

On Saturday the Barangay Inasal Cook-Off will be held at the Manokan Country and SM City Bacolod at 4 p.m. followed at 5 p.m. by the Chicken Inasal Awards at the SM Atrium and a live cooking demonstration by celebrity chef Jose Sarasola at the Ayala Malls Capitol Central.

The longest chicken-grilling event will be held at Megaworld’s The Upper East 6 p.m. Sunday.

There will also be a food fest and nightly entertainment at the three festival sites – North Capitol Road, The Upper East and the Manokan Country.*
