Massive voters ed drive to start, 64 ACMs for NIR arriving Friday

Sixty-four automated counting machines (ACMs) are scheduled to arrive in the Negros Island Region on Friday for the Commission on Elections’ massive voters education campaign for the 2025 polls, COMELEC NIR Regional Director Lionel Marco Castillano said Wednesday, Nov. 27.

The Comelec roadshow caravan in the NIR, which will be held simultaneously nationwide, will start on Monday, Dec. 2, he said.

He said of the 64 ACMs, 32 will be delivered to Negros Occidental, 26 to Negros Oriental and six to Siquijor.

On Saturday, the Election Officers and their Election Assistants will attend an online refresher course on the operation of the ACMs, Castillano said.

The goal is to hold the first roadshow ACM demonstrations at the various local government units after their flag raising ceremonies on Monday, he said, if it is okay with the LGU.

The roadshows will run from Dec. 2 until January 30.

They have been instructed to saturate all the barangays, schools, malls, and places where people converge, Castillano said.

Meanwhile, the COMELEC is still waiting for the activation of the NIR Police Regional Office, which is expected this November.

This is needed for the activation of the NIR Regional Joint Security Control Center composed of the Comelec, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and the Philippine National Police for the 2025 polls, he said.*
