President Ferdinand Marcos has  approved the allocation of P45 million  for  six local government units in the fourth and fifth districts of Negros Occidental devastated by Typhoon “Tino”, Gov. Eugenio  Jose Lacson said Tuesday night,  Nov. 11.

Allocated from the Presidential Assistance Fund is P10 million each for La Carlota City, La Castellana, and Moises Padilla and P5 million each for Binalbagan, Isabela and  Hinigaran,  Lacson said.

Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco  informed  Lacson of the allocation of the P45 million during her visit to Negros Occidental on behalf of the president.

The Palace earlier also  allocated P50 million to the Negros  Occidental provincial government for its typhoon response, Lacson said.

The Department of Health has also allocated P196,000 worth of medicines for leptospirosis and  hypertension, vitamins, and jerry cans for safe water storage in the affected areas, he added.

The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development is providing 100 shelter grade tarpaulins from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) USAID, Lacson also said.

Frasco announced the  allocation of  ₱10 million in immediate assistance for the recovery of Moises Padilla during her visit to the town on Tuesday.

Frasco and  Education Secretary Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara, inspected the Jose Pepito Montilla Garcia National High School, where several classrooms sustained heavy damage from strong winds and flooding.

To help the school resume operations and ensure learning continuity, the Department of Education (DepEd) turned over laptop units and a Starlink internet device to strengthen digital connectivity and support blended learning for teachers and students.

At the Moises Padilla Elementary School, which is currently serving as a temporary evacuation center,  Frasco and Angara led the ceremonial distribution of essential relief items from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), including Family Food Packs, Family Kits, and Hygiene Kits.

Further assistance was also turned over to the local government unit (LGU), including 100 jerrycans and a box of assorted medicines from the Department of Health (DOH) and 25 shelter-grade tarpaulins from the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DSHUD).

Mayor Ella Celestina Garcia-Yulo briefed the Cabinet Secretaries and regional agency heads at the Municipal Hall on the town’s post-disaster situation and immediate needs, which include water supply restoration, infrastructure repair, and housing for displaced families.

The officials ended their visit by inspecting the riverside area of Barangay Poblacion, one of the most severely flood-affected communities in Moises Padilla.*
