A Bacolod City resident was found tied up and shot to death at Purok Riverside in Brgy. Banago in the wee hours of Monday, September 20.

Killed was Mark Anthony Cubos, 37, of Purok Riverside. He survived an attempt on his life a year ago.

Responding policemen led by Maj. Richard Fajarito, Police Station 3 commander, found the victim at past 1 a.m. on the pavement, face down, with gunshot wounds to his head, body, and arms, while his hands were handcuffed and feet tied with a cloth.

A placard with the message “El Vigilante Drug Lord Warrior” was also found beside the victim’s body.

Fajarito said they are looking at illegal drugs as the motive for the killing of the victim.

On Sept. 18, 2020, the victim sustained injuries after he was shot near a school at Villa Angela Subdivision. He escaped the attempt on his life and was able to ask for help at a police checkpoint in Burgos Street.

The killing of Cubos came more than three weeks after a man was beheaded and a policeman was gunned down at Rosario Street, Barangay 38, in the last week of August.*
