A 40-year-old man was shot dead while a barangay kagawad was injured in a shooting incident along Lopez Jaena Street, Brgy. 2 Poblacion, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental, on Tuesday night, April 21.
The fatality was identified as alias “Henjie”, while the injured was Novem Arnido, a Brgy. 2 kagawad.
Henjie is allegedly a founder of RGS Global Marketing, believed to be an investment scam.
He was previously arrested through a warrant of arrest on Aug. 25, 2022 for syndicated estafa.
Initial investigation by the Hinigaran police showed that the victims were at a drinking session at a store when an unidentified suspect suddenly approached and shot the victim in the head and fled.
Police said the barangay kagawad sustained a gunshot wound on his left hand after being hit by a stray bullet.
The victims were rushed to a medical facility in Hinigaran, where the primary victim was declared dead, while the injured kagawad was later referred to the Holy Mother of Mercy Hospital for further treatment.
Authorities have launched a pursuit operation and follow-up investigation for the identification and arrest of the suspect.*
