LTO extends deadline for vehicle registration

Vehicle owners with plate numbers ending in 8 and 9 will be given more time to renew their registration as the deadline was extended by the Land Transportation Office.

In a memorandum dated August 12, LTO assistant secretary Edgar Galvante said this is to curb the transmission of COVID-19 and to ensure strict implementation and observance of social distancing and other health and sanitary protocols to protect the health and safety of their employees and clients.

Vehicle owners with plate numbers ending in 8, or supposed to renew their registration not later than August 31, will have until October 31 to settle their renewal.

The deadline of registration for those with plate numbers ending in 9, or have until September 30 to renew, will be extended to November 30.

The extension of the deadline will have no surcharges and penalties, the memo added.

Meanwhile, the validity of all student-driver’s permits, driver’s licenses, conductor’s licenses including medical certificates due to expire during the quarantine period on September 30, will be extended until November 30.*
