Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson urged the public to commit to raising awareness on road safety to help minimize traffic related accidents in Negros Occidental during the World Day of Remembrance for Traffic Victims and Survivors at the Provincial Capitol Park in Bacolod City, on Sunday, Nov. 19.
In his message which was read by Provincial Legal Officer Alberto Nellas Jr., the governor said “we stand together, not just in remembrance, but in commitment-to raise awareness, to support survivors, and to work tirelessly towards a world where roads are safer, lives are protected, and the profound loss experienced by many becomes a rarity rather than a reality”.
“Let us join hands in solidarity, lending our compassion and strength to all affected by road traffic incidents, as we strive for a future where tragedies are minimized, and hope shines brighter than grief”, he added.
The event was participated by students, teachers, members of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, Philippine Red Cross, road safety advocates, and other stakeholders.
The event started with a fun run and zumba dance, followed by a mass for the victims and survivors.
It was also highlighted with the blessing of the road safety memorial marker at the Provincial Capitol Lagoon Park.*
