
Victorias City mayoralty candidate Javi Benitez fully supports the Negros Occidental representative, a Victoriahanon, to the new edition of Miss Universe-Philippine pageant.
Shanelyn Bayson, a 22-year-old resident of Barangay XIII in Victorias City, is one of the top 32 finalists from a batch of 50 hopefuls.
Bayson visited Benitez who now leads Victoriahanons in rooting for her in the upcoming pageant, one of the most prestigious in the country.
Representing Negros Occidental, she was in the Top 32 Press Presentation held at Hilton Hotel, Manila on April 9.
In the Netizens’ Choice – Best Arrival Look where she garnered 13,500+ online reactions and 1,800+ comments, the Victorias’ beauty queen won the special award. All 32 finalists were evaluated through a series of challenges.
Bayson is a Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in English senior student at Carlos Hilado Memorial State University in Talisay City.
She said since she was 13 years old, she had always dreamed of joining beauty contests and was fond of watching pageants on television and also the ones held in the city.
Bayson also represented her secondary and tertiary schools in local and regional pageants in Western Visayas.
She was first runner-up in the Kadalag-an Queen 2019, a beauty pageant held during Victorias City’s Kadalag-an Festival, the annual charter anniversary celebrated every March.
Miss Universe Philippines Coronation Night will be held at the at the SM MOA Arena 7 p.m. April 30. The winner will succeed current title-holder Beatrice Luigi Gomez and represent the country in the 71st Miss Universe pageant.*
