
The Bacolod City Public Plaza came alive with rhythm, color, and youthful energy as students from various elementary and high schools showcased their musical talents in the Inter-School Drum and Lyre Corps Competition of the MassKara Festival on Sunday, Oct. 12.
Eight elementary schools and four high schools participated, each bringing their best performance and representing the pride of their communities, a press release from Gugma Foundation said.
Bacolod City Mayor Greg Gasataya said “after a long time, we have finally brought back the school competitions to MassKara”.
“MassKara is truly for everyone — children, youth, and the elderly. What matters most is that everyone gets to participate and be happy,” he said.
In the Elementary Category, Patricia Homes Elementary School emerged as the champion, receiving ₱40,000, followed by ETCS II as 1st Runner Up with ₱30,000, and Corazon Locsin Montelibano Elementary School as 2nd Runner Up with ₱20,000.
Special Awards in the Elementary Category were:
– Most Disciplined School: Corazon Locsin Montelibano Elementary School
– Best in Music: ETCS II
– Best in Choreography: Patricia Homes Elementary School
– Best in Band Uniform: Corazon Locsin Montelibano Elementary School
– Best in Parade: Patricia Homes Elementary School
In the High School Category, Handumanan National High School was hailed as the grand champion, taking home ₱40,000, while Luisa Medel National High School placed 1st Runner Up with ₱30,000, and Bata National High School finished 2nd Runner Up with ₱20,000.

– Best in Music: Handumanan National High School
– Best in Choreography: Luisa Medel National High School
– Best in Uniform: Handumanan National High School
