Guv holds issuance of EO on wearing mask at Capitol

The Negros Occidental provincial government will follow President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s executive order allowing the voluntary wearing of face masks indoors, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said on Thursday, November 17.

Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson earlier said he would issue an executive order requiring the continued wearing of face masks inside provincial government offices.

The governor has decided to remain silent on the matter and follow the national government pronouncements, Diaz said.

However, we are calling for personal vigilance, Diaz said.

“If you are careful you will use masks, especially indoors. It’s up to the individual to look after his own health,” Diaz said.

There were 280 active COVID-19 cases in Negros Occidental on Wednesday, and nine deaths since the start of the month, the Provincial Incident Management Team reported.*
