Negrense farmers, displaced workers, fisherfolk and scholars received P43.1 million in financial assistance and farm machineries at rites held at the Capitol Lagoon and Park in Bacolod City, Friday morning, Sept. 13.
The distribution was part of the nationwide simultaneous activity to mark the 67th birthday of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. dubbed “Handog ng Pangulo: Serbisyong Sapat para sa Lahat (The President’s Gift: Service Enough for All)”.

“It is a clear testament to the unwavering commitment of our government to uplift and empower every Filipino, especially those in need,” Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said in his speech at the distribution rites.
“While many celebrate their special day with festivities, our President chose a way that reflects his concern for the people – by bringing direct and concrete benefits to the Filipinos” Lacson said.
He cited the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) for the TUPAD pay-out benefiting 1,135 beneficiaries, the Department of Agriculture (DA) for the turnover of vital machinery to boost farmers’ productivity and ensure food security, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) for supporting the fisherfolk and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) for providing allowances to 700 scholars.
Labor Undersecretary Felipe Egargo Jr., who was at the Bacolod rites, said they released P3.4 million to 773 Tupad beneficiaries from Bacolod City, Cadiz City and KADIWA sellers. They each received P4,800 as payment for 10 days of emergency employment, he said.
Also set to receive Tupad assistance worth P1.74 million are 363 residents of Silay City, he said.
Also distributed were the allowances of 700 TESDA scholars totaling P1.7 million.
The president’s speech at the launching of the Agri-Puhunan at Pantawid Program in Guimba, Nueva Ecija, was beamed to the crowd at the Capitol Lagoon and Park.
