Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson announced on Friday, Sept. 5, that PCol. Dennis Wenceslao will be the new director of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO).

Wenceslao, who is from Nueva Ecija, replaces Col. Rainerio de Chavez, who has been transferred to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) headquarters in Metro Manila effective Friday.

Before his new post Wenceslao served as the chief of the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division of the Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region.

Lacson said that Wenceslao was his personal choice, following a similar selection process as previous provincial police directors.

“I am happy and I am confident that he can do a good job as our police director,” Lacson said.

The governor’s “marching order” for Wenceslao is to ensure peace and order without showing favoritism.

He will also ask Wenceslao to reach out to local chief executives and visit them in their towns and cities, Lacson said.*

Lacson said he had no complaints about the performance of de Chavez. “He wanted to stay longer but I think he will be given a special assignment in Camp Crame” within the CIDG, the governor added.*
