Government employees in Negros Occidental and Bacolod City will transition to a work-from-home arrangement from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1, with work suspended in the afternoon to allow them to prepare for the observance of Holy Week.
Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson and Bacolod Mayor Greg Gasataya said this is in compliance with Memorandum Circular No. 116, issued by the Office of the President on Tuesday.
Lacson directed all department heads to ensure that deliverables are completed remotely during the morning hours.
However, agencies involved in health services, disaster response, and other vital functions will maintain normal operations to ensure the continuous delivery of basic services, Lacson and Gasataya said.
Lacson also urged Negrenses to reflect on the significance of Holy Week in their lives.
“Let us reflect with our family and friends on the great love and sacrifice of Jesus, who saved us all,” he said.
The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office will be on blue alert, while Bacolod City’s response units will be on red alert throughout Holy Week.
“Don’t drink and drive,” the governor said, as he reminded motorists to exercise caution on the road during the holidays.
In a separate directive, Lacson designated Board Member Genaro Alvarez IV as acting vice governor of Negros Occidental from March 30 to April 10.
The designation ensures the stable delivery of social services while Vice Governor Jose Benito A. Alonso is on official leave, he said.*
