On Saturday night, the Philippines defeated Indonesia, 88-62, to cap a four-game unbeaten run in the five-nation tournament.

In a post-match interview, Gilas Women Youth head coach Alexander “Sandy” Arespacochaga took pride in the Gilas girls’ determination to not only win, but also to play well.

“I’m very happy na ganun yung laro nila (with how they played),” he added.

Arespacochaga said that from the start, the team’s goal was to play fast, to be fearless and to be smart.

“I’m very proud of the girls for showing those three qualities,” he added.

Earlier, the Philippines also routed Vietnam, 93-42; Singapore, 83-53; and Thailand, 86-48.
