Escalante denies Cadiz topnotcher for Covid-19 active cases in NegOcc

Cadiz City and San Carlos City have the most number of COVID-19 active cases in Negros Occidental, the Provincial Health Office reported today, November 6.

Cadiz Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr., however, denied that his city is the topnotcher for active cases.

The PHO report said that as of Thursday, November 5, Cadiz City had 150 COVID-19 active cases, followed by San Carlos City with 130, Kabankalan City – 86, Himamaylan City – 55, Silay City – 53, Escalante City – 38, EB Magalona – 37, Isabela – 37, Calatrava – 35, Victorias City – 34;

La Carlota City – 31, Binalbagan – 30, Sagay City – 29, Hinigaran – 27, Bago City – 27, Murcia -26, Talisay City – 23, Ilog – 20, Toboso – 19, Sipalay City – 19, La Castellana – 9, Manapla – 9, Pontevedra – 7, Candoni – 4, Cauayan – 6, San Enrique – 3, Pulupandan – 3, Moises Padilla – 3 and Hinoba-an – 2.

Valladolid and Salvador Benedicto have no active cases, the PHO also reported.

The PHO report does not include Bacolod City that is highly urbanized.

The PHO report also said of 4,955 COVID-19 cases that hit the province as of Thursday Talisay City had the most number at 601 followed by Silay City with 573, Kabankalan City – 382, Cadiz City – 346, Bago City – 305, San Carlos City – 284, Victorias City – 228, Sagay City – 216, La Carlota City – 206, Himamaylan City -187;

Murcia – 166, EB Magalona – 164, Sipalay City – 124 Binalbagan – 120, Hinigaran – 119, Escalante City -117, Calatrava – 92, La Castellana – 91, Manapla – 87, Valladolid – 75, Pulupandan – 74, Pontevedra – 66, San Enrique – 58, Isabela – 53, Cauayan – 46, Hinoba-an – 41, Toboso – 40, Ilog – 38, Moises Padilla – 33, Candoni – 12, and Salvador Benedicto -11.

As of Thursday, of the 347 persons hit by COVID-19 in Cadiz City, 234 have recovered, 99 are active cases, 11 have died, 2 were transient and one was endorsed to another local government unit, Dr. Maria Victoria Ibañez 4, Cadiz City Health Officer reported today.

Meanwhile, the Department of Health 6 reported tonight that Negros Occidental has 15 new COVID-19 cases and Bacolod City has 42.

COVID-19 has hit 4,873 persons in Negros Occidental as of today, with 89 deaths and 1,517 active cases remaining, it added.

In Bacolod City 4,935 persons have been hit by the virus with 143 deaths and 296 active cases remaining, DOH 6 said.*
