
The Department of Social Welfare and Development has released P138,586,450 in Emergency Cash Transfers (ECT) to 13,514 small sugarcane farmers whose crops have been hit by Red-striped soft scale insects in the Negros Island Region as of Friday, August 21, DSWD NIR Regional Director Arwin Razo said.
The payouts have covered nine local government units (LGUs) in Negros Occidental and six in Negros Oriental so far.
Negros Occidental recorded the highest number of beneficiaries, with 9,141 families receiving a total of ₱94,380,825.
Among the LGUs in the province, Isabela topped the list with 2,262 beneficiaries (₱23,355,150.00), followed closely by Binalbagan with 1,523 beneficiaries (₱15,724,975.00) and Moises Padilla with 1,521 beneficiaries (₱15,704,325.00).
The latest payout in Negros Occidental was in Manapla where ₱3,665,375 was distributed to 355 beneficiaries who received ₱10,325.00 each.
The breakdown of disbursements in eight other LGUs in Negros Occidental is as follows:
- Isabela: 2,262 beneficiaries – ₱23,355,150
- Binalbagan: 1,523 beneficiaries – ₱15,724,975
- Moises Padilla: 1,521 beneficiaries – ₱15,704,325
- Cadiz City: 1,019 beneficiaries – ₱10,521,175
- San Carlos City: 973 beneficiaries – ₱10,046,225
- Talisay City: 607 beneficiaries – ₱6,267,275
- Salvador Benedicto: 454 beneficiaries – ₱4,687,550
- Sipalay: 72 beneficiaries – ₱743,400
In Negros Oriental, 4,728 beneficiaries received financial support amounting to ₱47,871,000. Mabinay registered the highest share in the province, serving 2,551 beneficiaries with ₱25,828,875.00 disbursed.
