Digicast Negros receives Bayanihan Media Award

Digicast Negros recently received a Bayanihan Media Award (BMA) for best digital media volunteerism reporting.

Digicast and seven other awardees from Western Visayas and Negros Occidental were officially recognized during the fourth quarter full council meeting of the Regional Development Council VI in Iloilo City on December 12, the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) said.

The eight winners were honored for “leading the way in ethical and impactful journalism”.

Also among the digital media awardees were K5 News FM Bacolod and USA Publications.

The other awardees were:

*Best volunteerism reporting in print media (individual) – Maria Solita Zaldivar-Guzman (Akeanon News);

*Best volunteerism reporting in print media (organization) – Negros Now Daily/Negros Weekly and USA Publications;

*Best volunteerism reporting in TV (individual) – John Robert Vega aka Monsour Betero (Kalibo Cable TV Community Channel); and

*Best volunteerism reporting in digital media (individual) – Maria Solita Zaldivar-Guzman.

Held annually, the BMA honors media practitioners and organizations who exemplify responsible and ethical journalism, particularly in advancing the spirit of volunteerism as a cornerstone of national development, the PIA said.

Through compelling storytelling and impactful coverage, nominees inspire communities to embrace volunteerism as a way of life, it said.*
