Councilor robbed, beaten up in motel, cops recover vehicle

A Bago City councilor reported to the police that he was beaten up and robbed by two males inside a motel in Bacolod City on Wednesday, May 26, who then escaped onboard his vehicle.

Councilor Cleo Gaudite, 47, reported the incident to the Bacolod Station 2 police Friday morning, May 28.

Gaudite said while he was at 18th and Lacson streets in Bacolod City near a gasoline station at about 3:45 p.m. Wednesday two males stopped the red Mitsubishi Mirage GLX he was driving and entered it, PCapt. Paul Vincent Pendon, Station 2 chief, said.

One of the suspects pointed an icepick at him and made him drive into a motel, Gaudite told the police.

Gaudite said the suspects then beat him up and took his pants containing P3,000 and his iPhone 12 Pro Max, and escaped on board his vehicle, Pendon said.

The councilor said his wallet containing his identification cards and P4,000 were in the vehicle, Pendon added.

The Mitsubishi Mirage GLX was recovered at the Circumferential Road beyond Lopue’s East facing north at 3:45 p.m. Friday, Pendon said.

The vehicle was locked and its right front tire was flat, he said.

Gaudite, who had injuries on the head and ear, told the police one of the suspects was about 5 feet 4 inches tall who went by the name of alias Jun and the other was 5 feet 6 inches tall. They were both wearing ball caps and face masks.

“We have no leads yet on the real identities of the suspects,” Pendon said Friday night. He assured that the police are working on solving the crime.

A motel employee said when they opened the gate suspects on board the vehicle sped out of the motel. They then found the injured councilor inside the motel.

The councilor could not be reached for comment.*
