The suspect in the killing of a senior high school teacher at her house at Sitio Canipa-an, Barangay Banquerohan, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, Wednesday, was arrested in Bacolod City at past 1 a.m. Friday, October 8, Lt. Col. Rocky Desear, Cadiz police chief, said.
Arrested for killing Jessica Transmonte Ducay, 28, a teacher at the Dr. Vicente F. Gustilo Memorial National High School, was Delleon Del Rosario, alias Toto, Desear said.
Del Rosario is also accused of stealing P79,000 from the teacher and charges for robbery with homicide will be filed against him, the cop chief said.
Desear said Del Rosario had been hired as a painter at the house of Ducay.
Footage from two CCTV cameras showed that Del Rosario was the lone person who entered and exited the Ducay house with the bag of the victim at the time the crime was committed, Desear said.
The school teacher was alone in the house when the suspect hit her head with a hammer and stabbed her to death, Desear said.
Her bag with her identification card and documents was found near a river in Barangay Caduha-an, Cadiz. The P79,000 was no longer in the bag and was not recovered from the suspect on his arrest, he added.
Desear said the Cadiz cops coordinated with the Bacolod police after they received information that Del Rosario’s live-in partner lives in Calong-Calong at Barangay Singcang Airport, Bacolod City.
Del Rosario returned to the house of his live-in partner before dawn Friday and was arrested, Maj. Joery Puerto, Bacolod Police Station 8 commander, said.
Puerto said Del Rosario admitted killing the teacher. He allegedly said he planned to steal because he had no money for his birthday.*
