Deputy House Speaker and Bacolod Rep. Alfredo Abelardo Benitez led the opening of the Cong. Albee Sportsfest 2026 attended by thousands of athletes at the University of Negros Occidental- Recoletos Amphitheater in Bacolod City Saturday afternoon, May 9.
Special guest at the event was Filipino-American professional basketball player Ray Parks Jr.
Athletes from all 61 barangays of Bacolod joined the celebration of sports and community spirit, Benitez said.
There are 22,646 athletes from 61 barangays participating, Bacolod Sangguniang Kabataan president Danna Marie Cuaycong Barzo said.
“To all our athletes, good luck and enjoy every moment of the games. May this sportsfest strengthen camaraderie, teamwork, discipline, and unity as you proudly represent your barangays on and off the court,” Benitez told the athletes.*
