CHMSU sets four-day workweek in 4 campuses starting March 10

The Carlos Hilado Memorial State University (CHMSU) will implement a temporary four-day workweek across its four campuses effective Tuesday, March 10.

The four-day workweek will remain in effect until further notice from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., the university announced on Sunday, March 8.

The CHMSU main campus is in Talisay City. Its three other campuses are the Alijis Campus and Fortune Towne Campus in Bacolod City and the Binalbagan Campus in Binalbagan, Negros Occidental.

Under the four-day workweek scheme, the university said it will maintain the standard 40-hour weekly requirement through compressed 10-hour shifts, with employees reporting from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday to Thursday.

To facilitate the transition, all employees are scheduled to work from home this coming Friday, March 13.

While all faculty and staff—including General Administrative Support Services (GASS), casual, and job order personnel—will report on-campus during the new Monday-to-Thursday schedule, all Friday classes will shift to synchronous or asynchronous online delivery, the announcement said.

Hybrid options will be made available for students with limited internet connectivity.

The university clarified that Saturday classes, National Service Training Program (NSTP) activities, community engagements, and scheduled admission exams will proceed as originally planned to minimize academic and administrative disruptions.*
