The Negros Occidental provincial government is creating project management teams to monitor the implementation of its big ticket projects and reshuffling some division heads, Provincial Administrator Rayfrado Diaz said Monday, July 11.
He said the project management teams will be composed of representatives from different departments to ensure contractors’ compliance with specifications and time frames.
If there is work slippage, catch up measures must be proposed by the contractor to be approved by the governor, Diaz said.
The construction of the Negros Occidental Language and IT Center Global Campus in Brgy. Matab-ang, Talisay City, is ongoing and will also be monitored by a project management team, he said.
Diaz said there will also be a reshuffling of division heads in some departments to ensure more productive work.
The Provincial Engineering Office will have a reorganized structure with different division heads with specific roles and responsibilities, he said.
Diaz said meetings have also been held with the veterinary and agriculture offices for the implementation of the provincial government’s food security program.
Among the aims is to make Negros Occidental self-reliant in rice and the setting up of a feed mill.
About 85 percent of the animal feeds needed in the province are already produced locally, they just need to cover the gap of about 15 percent, he said.*
