Cadiz fire hits 22 houses, 32 families affected: mayor

The fire in Cadiz City.*

Fire destroyed 20 houses and damaged two in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, on Wednesday morning, March 25.

Cadiz Mayor Salvador Escalante said the fire left 32 families homeless.

Acting Cadiz City Fire Marshal FInsp. Archie Españo, said the fire occurred at Purok Hitalon, Brgy. Zone 4, which
is considered as a red zone or fire prone.

The fire spread quickly as the houses were closely built and mostly made of light materials, he said.

Firefighting operations lasted for about an hour before the Bureau of Fire Protection declared fire out at around 8:01 a.m.

Investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.*
