The Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB) in the Negros Island Region will conduct a public hearing for the Negros Bulk Water Malogo River Project in Brgy. San Isidro, E.B. Magalona, on May 20.
Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz confirmed the schedule on Wednesday, noting that the hearing is a mandatory legal requirement for the Negros Occidental provincial government’s application for an Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC).
Diaz emphasized that the provincial government remains committed to fulfilling all legal prerequisites for the project, regardless of whether it is implemented during the current administration or not.
"It is in preparation for the future," Diaz said.
Earlier, a separate public hearing was held in Brgy. Guimbalaon, Silay City, regarding the proposed site for the Imbang Watershed-Hinalinan River Project.
The Imbang and Malogo Rivers serve as the two primary sites for the Negros Occidental Bulk Water Project, Diaz said.*
