Two patriarchs of the Diocese of Bacolod died Sunday morning, January 7, Bacolod Bishop Patricio Buzon said.

Msgr Felix Pasquin, 79, and Fr. Romeo Empestan, 86, peacefully returned to their Creator, the Diocese of Bacolod announced.

“We are deeply saddened by their death. We have lost two of our patriarchs who have greatly contributed to bringing the diocese to where we are now,” Buzon said.

“They held different positions of great importance and influence that helped shape the diocese into what it is today. May the Lord reward them for generously giving their life to serve the people of the Diocese of Bacolod,” he added.

Fr. Marvin Labasan, Diocese of Bacolod spokesman, said Empestan died at The Doctors Hospital.

“Pasquin died at Riverside Hospital due to septic shock at the age of 79,” he also said.

The schedules of their wakes are still being discussed with their families, he added.*
