Bacolod mayoral aspirant Alfredo “Albee” Benitez said he cancelled the raffling off of a house and lot for his supporters at his 55th birthday celebration at the SMX Convention Center in Bacolod City Monday night, December 20, to instead use the funds to aid the victims of super Typhoon “Odette” in the city who lost their homes.
There are still some people in evacuation centers who cannot go home because their houses were destroyed, Benitez said.
The virtual live streaming raffle Monday night was also postponed because Internet connections are not good and there are some who still have no electricity, he said.
When asked for his birthday wish, Benitez said he dreams of a Bacolod where every family will have their own house, where everybody has total access to health facilities and every Bacolodnon will have dignity.
Benitez said he will campaign based on programs and projects he intends to implement, and if the electorate feel that these are what they want for the city, they know what to do.
He would not say whom he is supporting for president, as a PDP-Laban (Cusi wing) member, he is still waiting for the final direction of the party, Benitez said.
PDP-Laban is leaning towards supporting Sara Duterte Carpio for vice president, Benitez said.*
