Bago City Hall, Sipalay SP closed after Covid hits 14

The Bago City Hall and Sipalay City Sangguniang Panlungsod in Negros Occidental have been closed for disinfection after 14 employees tested positive for COVID-19.

The Bantayan Park in Bago City and Campomanes Bay in Sipalay City will also be closed from Wednesday to Friday, June 23 to 25, to prevent the spread of COVID-19 during the Feast of St. John the Baptist.

Ten employees of the Bago City Hall and four from the Sipalay SP have tested positive for COVID-19.

The Bago City Hall will be closed from Wednesday to Friday, June 23-25, to give way to intensive contract tracing of affected employees and general disinfection, Bago Mayor Nicholas Yulo said Tuesday, June 22.

All employees were ordered to adopt a work-from-home arrangement.

The Bago employees who tested positive for COVID-19 are from the Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office – three, and one employee each from the Sports Office, City Mayor’s Office, General Services Office, Slaughter House, City Human Resource Management Office, City Legal Office and Office of the City Agriculturist, Ace Balboa, Bago information officer, said.

The Sipalay City SP has temporarily closed until further notice to give way for the disinfection and ongoing contact tracing, Executive Assistant Dionilo Bogtae said.

A Sipalay SP legislative employee tested positive for COVID-19 that led to the testing of close contacts, Bogtae said. Three other SP personnel tested positive Tuesday, and the test results of other close contacts are being awaited, he added.*
