Bacolod City posted a 4.83 percent tourism arrival growth in 2025, with economic contributions exceeding P6.5 billion, a press release from the city government said on Monday, Feb. 16.
The City Tourism Office recorded 873,573 local and foreign visitors in 2025, reflecting steady growth from the 833,345 arrivals logged in 2024.
Figures from local hotels and accommodations show domestic tourists rose 5.11 percent to 813,625, while foreign arrivals increased 2.21 percent to 60,525, the press release said.
Tourism receipts for 2025 reached P6,551,812,500. Peak performance was recorded in October, November, and December, with lower returns in June, July, and September, it added.
The city also saw a 77 percent increase in MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions) attendees, climbing to 279,200 in 2025 from 157,126 in 2024.
Harold Geronimo, Vice President for Public Relations and Media Affairs at Megaworld, expressed optimism about Bacolod’s tourism trajectory.
“We are optimistic that Mayor Greg is focused on tourism right now. This is good news for Bacolod because the city can truly benefit from the growth of tourism”, he said.
“It has a ripple effect on local businesses, hotels, and local artisans. We are excited about the programs and eager to contribute ideas to support our city’s progress”, Geronimo said.
He explained that while challenges remain, particularly in transportation costs and infrastructure such as lighting and road conditions, local officials and private partners are collaborating to address these concerns.
Enhancements to the airport, seaport, and street lighting aim to make the city more accessible and safer for visitors, press release said.
“Mayor Greg’s focus on tourism development aligns with the city’s vision to showcase Bacolod’s unique charm and drive economic growth,” it added.*
