Bacolod honors Palarong Pambansa 2026 medalists with cash incentives, triple-gold swimmer Secuelan leads awardees

The  Bacolod City government  released cash incentives on Thursday morning, June 18,  to honor the 284-strong delegation of athletes, coaches, trainers, and chaperones who represented the city in the Palarong Pambansa 2026.

The cash rewards serve as a tribute to the team’s hard work and sacrifices, which brought pride and honor to the city on the national sports stage, Bacolod Mayor Greg Gasataya said.

He  emphasized that while no monetary amount could truly match the dedication shown by the delegation, the incentives symbolize the city’s unwavering support and its vision to groom future sports champions.

Gasataya  said he  hopes the  country’s next Olympian will  hail from Bacolod.

To ensure fair recognition across the sports delegation, the city implemented a structured cash incentive program based on medal finishes and specific roles. Athletes and head coaches received ₱18,000 for every gold medal, ₱15,000 for silver, and ₱10,000 for bronze.

Assistant coaches  were given  ₱15,000 for gold, ₱12,000 for silver, and ₱8,000 for bronze, while both trainers and chaperones will be rewarded with ₱10,000 for gold, ₱8,000 for silver, and ₱5,000 for bronze.

Additionally, a general allowance of ₱1,000 was provided to all delegates within the team.

Swimmer Sofia Ysabela Secuelan took center stage during the distribution as the delegation’s top individual performer.

Secuelan won three gold medals in her swimming events, anchoring the team’s successful run. For her outstanding athletic feat, she took home the highest individual incentive package of the day, totaling ₱54,000. *
