Bacolod gears up for excitingMassKara Festival in October

As the festival draws closer, Bacolod City is ramping up its preparations for a thrilling 45th Masskara Festival celebration.

Bacolod Yuhum Foundation along with members of the Inter-agency Committee are determined to ensure that the celebration will be spectacular, more exciting, colorful, and vibrant, its press release said on Friday, Sept. 13.

In meeting with members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod at the Seda Hotel on Friday they discussed key preparations for the highly anticipated event on October 11-27.

This includes deployment of security personnel for public safety and security, food inspection, waste collection and traffic, the press release from Yuhum said.

Councilor Jason Villarosa, Chairperson of the Committee on Tourism, expressed his
full support for the Masskara Festival as he emphasized their shared commitment in maintaining the festival’s world-renowned reputation for lively entertainment, colorful displays, and community spirit.

“Ever since our city officials has been very supportive, especially Mayor Albee. He was the one who conceptualized it to make Masskara Festival into International level,” he said.

At the meeting were city councilors Thaddy Sayson, Em Ang, Israel Salanga and other council representatives.

Katherine Matiling, Yuhum president and festival director, said more than 30 artist and performers along with celebrities are joining this year’s celebration.

“The festival is scheduled to run from October 11 to October 27, with events taking place at four festival sites – the Bacolod City Public Plaza, Bacolod City Government Center, Lacson Strip and Megaworld’s The Upper East.

Some of the most awaited events are MassKanamit, MassKara Music Festival, Electric Float Parade, The ElekTROIKA Diva MassKara Lympics, Miss Bacolod, MassKarade Ball, and the Street Dance and Arena Competition, the press release said.*
