
The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) has acknowledged Bacolod’s Chicken Inasal as one of the city’s cultural properties, in time of the celebration of the Bacolod Chicken Inasal Festival that kicked off May 24.
Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said, in an interview at the festival’s opening at the North Capitol Road in Bacolod City on Friday, May 24, that the NCCA on May 13 issued a certificate of compliance to Bacolod City.
Benitez said that he is proud that it has been recognized to be a city’s cultural property, as Chicken Inasal is one of the recognized top food in the world.
“Our inasal is the best in the country as we can see various recipes of how to cook it,” he said, adding “You will not be disappointed to come in Bacolod and eat chicken inasal as it can cater to the palette of every individual”.
Benitez was joined by Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, and councilors Celia Flor, Jason Villarosa, Em Ang, Israel Salanga, Vladimir Gonzalez, Cindy Rojas and Psyche Marie Sy at the North Capitol Road festival site.
Flor urged the Bacolodnons to promote and bring “Bacolod Chicken Inasal” around the world during her speech.
Flor said since 2018 there have been celebrations of the inasal festival but this is the second year that the festival will be held in various venues for three days.
The festival is being held at the North Capitol Road, The Upper East in Megaworld, SM City Bacolod, and Ayala Malls Capitol Central from May 24 to 26.
Highlighting the three-day festival is the Bacolod Chicken Inasal Festival Food Expo at the three venues, Retro Cook-Out, Sugba Fest, Trade Fair, Brgy. Chicken Inasal Cook-Off, Inasal Culinary Battle, Bacolod Chicken Inasal Awards, Global Beats Arena Competition, among others.*
