Bacoleña receives int’l changemaker award

A Bacoleña was the 2024 Changemaker in Health Awardee at the ongoing  Healthcare Information Management System Society (HIMSS) Conference 2024 in  Orlando,  Florida, USA. 

Ellen Joy Arigorat was one of the 2024 Changemaker in Health Awardees, a recognition given to the most influential women in Health Information Management, Bacolod Councilor Em Ang said in a Facebook post on Friday, March 15. 

“The award recognizes individuals who lead in the global health care ecosystem, particularly those who demonstrate a commitment to harnessing the power of information and technology to positively transform health and healthcare, driving transformational change leading to improved health outcomes and gaining the recognition and respect of their peers”, the councilor said. 

Arigorat is the current Program Director for Nursing Informatics at the New York Presbyterian Hospital. 

Ang said that Arigorat was born in Bacolod in 1984 and studied elementary at the University of Saint La Salle-Bacolod before her family moved to New Jersey in 1992. 

Arigorat serves as an inspiration for all hardworking Filipinos in the US healthcare system and a source of pride for Bacolodnons, Ang said.*
