The majority of the Philippine Army’s 303rd Infantry Brigade troopers in Negros have been inoculated with COVID-19 vaccines following the vaccination rollout of the Philippine Army early this year.

Based on its latest report, 99 percent of its personnel based at its headquarters in Camp Major Nelson Gerona in Murcia town are fully vaccinated, as well as troopers from the 79th IB, while military personnel from 62IB are 95 percent inoculated.

The figures covered a total of 98 percent vaxxed army personnel in the province.

The army brigade and its line battalions are conducting information and education campaigns about COVID-19 vaccination to address the apprehension of soldiers about being vaccinated.

“Your Army in Negros remains ready to serve our people in these challenging times. The availability of the vaccines is a welcome development and being vaccinated is an opportunity that allows us to carry out our duties of serving the people and securing the land, especially for the Negrenses. Our troops will make good use of this opportunity to confidently and carefully bestow our duties as we jointly seek an end to this pandemic,” Brigadier General Inocencio Pasaporte, 303rd IB commander, said.

“The Army in Negros is grateful to the local government’s efforts especially the province of Negros Occidental to have our military personnel be among the first to receive COVID-19 vaccines,” he added.*
