Army: Alleged NPA rebel wanted for murder nabbed

A wanted alleged member of the New People’s Army was arrested Sitio Binitibotan, Barangay Calupaan, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental, Wednesday, October 13, by virtue of a warrant of arrest for murder, a press release from the 62nd Infantry Unifier Battalion said.

Reagan Taub, alias “Apyot”, 35, a New People’s Army Negros 1 personality, was apprehended by troops of the of 62nd Infantry “Unifier” Battalion and Guihulngan City Police Station, by virtue of a warrant of arrest for murder in Criminal Case 19-003-G dated January 21, issued by Judge Mario Trinidad of the Guihulngan City Regional Trial Court Branch 64, with no bail recommended for his temporary liberty.

Confiscated from him during his arrest were a .45 caliber pistol and terrorist documents.

Taub was the primary suspect in the murder of Sgt De Ramas, Assistant Patrol Base Commander of Candalanon Detachment in 2019, and of civilians inside their home at Sitio Agit, Brgy Trinidad, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental in May 14, 2021, the Army said.

“It is a clear manifestation that the residents from North to South of Guihulngan City are willing to help the government in promoting peace and security in Guihulngan City. I sincerely appreciate the residents of Brgy Calupa-an for giving valid and true information on the presence of this personality to the AFP and PNP,” Lt. Col. Melvin Flores, 62nd IB battalion commander, said.*
