A backhoe estimated to cost P3.5 million was torched by unidentified armed men at Sitio Bulod, in Barangay Carabalan, Himamaylan City.

The backhoe was burned at about 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 11, PLt. Arturo Margallo, Himamaylan deputy police chief, said.

The incident was reported by a barangay tanod and the police and Army conducted an ocular inspection at the site located 25 kilometers from the town proper on Sunday, he said.

The seven unidentified armed men are alleged members of the Communists terrorists’ group, he said.

However, those are just allegations, they have yet to confirm if the burning was done by the Communist rebels, he said.

The backhoe being used for the construction of a road was owned by ESJ and Sons Construction Co., Margallo said.*
