Opposition leader and Isambayan standard bearer, Vice President Leni Robredo, will arrive in Negros Occidental Friday, November 5, for a two-day visit that will allow her to meet with leaders of a broad-based coalition and call on the government officials of the province and Bacolod City.

Robredo, whose announcement for a presidential run for the 2022 national polls in early October, triggered what political observers called as “Pinkdemic”, will address representatives and sectoral leaders of the Negros for Leni Movement headed by former Governor Rafael Coscolluela and volunteers belonging to the newly-formed Laban Leni of Negros Occidental led by lawyer and businesswoman Pinky Mirano-Ocampo, a press release from organizers said.

Hundreds of pink-clad well-wishers will await Robredo at the Bacolod-Silay International Airport before her convoy slowly motors toward the Airport Access Road, where scores of vehicles of Negrense supporters will be lining up for the stationary caravan that ends at the junction leading to The Ruins on its way to the Provincial Capitol for a call on Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson, Coscolluela said.

Her visit coincides with the Cinco de Noviembre celebration, marking the province’s liberation from the Spanish regime.

From the Capitol, the Vice President will call on Bishop Patricio Buzon of the Diocese of Bacolod at his residence at the San Sebastian Cathedral grounds.

Coscolluela said Robredo will deliver a speech at the People’s Assembly and Consultation whose attendance had been limited to only 100 people representing N4L, LLNO and sectoral leaders to comply with minimum health protocols, particularly physical distancing, at a venue at the Acacia Hotel that can actually accommodate a maximum crowd of 1,000 people under normal times.

The Vice President is expected to respond to a wide range of issues, including her position on vote-buying, territorial sovereignty, responsive good governance, anti-corruption campaign, the war against drugs and COVID-19 management, among others.

Robredo will be joined by her running-mate, Sen. Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan and senatorial candidates lawyer Alex Lacson and Teddy Baguilat and Rep. Erin Tañada, who will stay behind with people’s representatives for interaction as the Vice President heads to another function room to meet with members of the Bacolod and Negros media in an early afternoon press conference.

She will then proceed to the Bacolod City Government Center to meet with Mayor Evelio Leonardia, Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran and other city officials.

On Saturday, November 6, Robredo will travel to Murcia to visit members of the Murcia Women Association-LNK to discuss the implementation of AB Sustainable Livelihood Training Program.

The LLNO will also launch its Lugaw Party project at the SLPP project site.

Robredo then returns to Bacolod before lunch time for the blessing and inaugurating of the Leni-Kiko Negros Headquarters along Hernaez Street.*
