Bacolod mayoral candidate Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez said housing will be his long-term landmark program for Bacolod City if he wins in 2022.

Bacolod has the second highest rate for informal settlers after the National Capital Region, he said.

“Singapore focused on housing development early on in their state. And the result is if you give decent comfortable dwellings…you give informal settlers dignity,” he said.

“If we focus on housing and give them a proper dwelling they will become more productive, peaceful and model citizens and that will be the start of actual development,” he said.

Benitez said he also has an eight-point action plan for his first 100 days in office.

These are:

*To cleanup corruption;
*Placing of asphalt overlays on subdivision and city roads;
*Eradicating spaghetti wires;
*Providing gasoline for patrol cars, renovation of police stations and establishment of a better CCTV system;
*Reorganizing City Hall to increase efficiency;
*Putting up solar street lights for safety and security;
*Addressing health and education needs; and
*Short-term and long-term market renovation.*
