Police arrested Negros Island Region’s 8th most wanted person in Siaton, Negros Oriental, on Monday evening, July 6.
The suspect, identified only by his alias “Yoyo”, was arrested in Barangay 3.
He was described as a 28-year-old single farmer.
The police said “Yoyo” resided in the same household as the minor victim. The suspect allegedly took advantage of a situation when the two were left alone inside the residence.
The assault occurred after the victim approached the suspect to borrow his cellular phone, which the accused reportedly used as an opportunity to commit the sexual abuse, the police said.
Following his capture, the accused was fully informed of the nature of his arrest and was apprised of his constitutional rights in a language he understands.
Police said the arrest was carried out by virtue of a warrant for statutory rape.
No bail was recommended by the court.
He was brought to the Siaton Municipal Police Station for proper disposition and further legal proceedings.*
