785 Neg. Occ. aspirants file COCs, 21.5% female

There are 785 aspirants running for 369 posts in Negros Occidental and Bacolod City in the 2025 midterm elections in May next year.

Of the total 169 or 21.5 percent are female, Commission of Elections data showed on Thursday, Oct. 10.

There are five aspirants running for governor (all male), two for vice governor (one male and one female), 15 for seven congressional seats (13 male and two female) and 23 for 12 provincial board member seats (18 male and five female).

There are 70 candidates for mayor (56 male and 14 female), 63 for vice mayor (50 male and 13 female), and 607 for councilor (473 male and 134 female).

To be elected are 32 mayors, 32 vice mayors and 284 councilors.*
