7,548 register to vote on final day in NegOcc,  Bacolod leads turnout

Long queues and a last-minute rush in cities marked the conclusion of the voter registration period in Negros Occidental, with 7,548 registrants processed on Monday, May 18, Provincial Elections Supervisor Ian Lee Ananoria said.

There were long lines observed in the cities, and less registrants in the towns, he said.

The highly urbanized city of Bacolod recorded the highest volume of registrants by a wide margin, logging 1,236 , Commission on Election data furnished by Ananoria Monday night showed.

Major northern and southern hubs also posted strong turnout figures, led by Silay City with 408, followed by Bago City – 354, Talisay City – 334, Sagay City -333, Kabankalan City – 330, and Himamaylan City – 306.

La Carlota City had 303 voter registrants, Cadiz City – 297, San Carlos City – 292, and Victorias City – 274.

Isabela and La Castellana recorded identical outputs of 254, followed closely by Escalante City and Binalbagan, which each registered 240 applicants.

Moderate turnouts were observed in Murcia – 208, Hinigaran – 205, Cauayan -195, Hinoba-an – 177, Moises Padilla-154, Candoni -153, Calatrava -118, Pontevedra – 113, Sipalay City -110, and Enrique B. Magalona -101.

Smaller municipalities experienced a much quieter final day.

San Enrique recorded – 96 outputs, while Salvador Benedicto processed 93 and Toboso saw 73.

The lowest registration volumes in the province were recorded in Ilog with 68 outputs, Valladolid with 63, and Pulupandan, which finished with the day’s lowest total of just 52 processed applications.

The local election offices will now transition to the consolidation period and upcoming Election Registration Board (ERB) hearings to officially finalize the voter rosters for the upcoming elections.*
