6th most wanted man in NIR facing raps for alleged rape of minor stepdaughter arrested

The police arrested  Negros Island Region’s No. 6 most wanted person in Manjuyod, Negros Oriental, on Wednesday, July 1.

The accused was identified as alias “Jon,” 49, a laborer and fish cage maintenance worker residing in Sitio Punta, Brgy. Campuyo.

He was arrested at around 11:40 a.m. during a manhunt operation conducted by personnel of the 4th Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion, with assistance from the Bayawan City Police Station, Manjuyod Municipal Police Station, and Regional Intelligence Unit-NIR.

Police said the accused was apprehended by virtue of a warrant of arrest for qualified rape of a minor under the Revised Penal Code.

No bail was recommended by the court.

Authorities said the accused is the victim’s stepfather and allegedly abused the minor on several occasions inside a nipa hut near a river when the child’s mother was away for work.

He was brought to the Manjuyod police station for booking and documentation before being turned over to the Bayawan City Police Station for proper disposition.

Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region Director PBGen. Romano Cardiño said the arrest forms part of continuing intelligence-driven operations against wanted persons across the region.*
